Samsung 50″ 3D TV PS50A476
* HD ready
* 3D mode
* 30,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
* Real 100Hz

HD ready
Redefine your viewing experience with HD Ready TV. Experience colour and detail like never before as movies, sports and gaming burst to life on your screen.

3D mode
How does 3D work?
Either DDD software or an nVidia Graphic card converts the 3D input source material into the 3D format of your TV system with 3D depth information derived from the input source. The 476 ‘Real 3D Engine’ produces independent images for each eye with the redefined format and 3D depth information. Then ‘Real 3D Engine’ displays 60 images per second for each eye independently, which means it displays visuals at 120Hz frame rate. An IR emitter synchronises signals generated from the ‘Real 3D Engine’ with special shutter glasses. The glasses and IR emitter work together so that each of your eyes gets its own visual information. Through this process, users can feel the excitement of the full 3D effect.

30,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
With a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 30,000:1 images are presented with power, precision and lifelike detail. The Digital Dynamic Contrast is controlled by a variable backlight behind the panel. The internal dimming or brightening of the backlight creates incredibly dark and bright images making for a clearer natural image.

entertainment mode
Entertainment mode provides 3 preset hot-keys which allow you to access an optimised viewing environment for movies, games and sports. With dynamic fast motion imaging, detail enhancement and colours that burst with life, entertainment mode will engage your attention and put you right in the picture.

3HDMI
100% pure digital connection synchronises audio and video signals, ensuring no data loss and pure viewing perfection. Equipped with 3HDMI inputs, the SAMSUNG LCD TV Series 4 is more than a sensational TV; it has the ability to be the centrepiece of your digital world. The addition of Anynet+ (HDMI CEC) allows you to control all connected AV devices from one remote control, giving you a more integrated entertainment experience.

Real 100Hz
Conventional TVs display visuals at a 50Hz frame rate, which means it shows 50 still images per second. In this case, however, we can sometimes see image blurring in fast moving scenes.
With SAMSUNG’, the technology enables display motions in a more fluid way without any blurring by:
- Frame doubling from 50 to 100 frames per second (100Hz LCD panel),
- Not repeating the same image to make more frames, but intelligently calculating the ‘middle’ image between frame A and frame B and inserting another frame ‘A+’ in between.

BSkyB have officially announced that it will launch the UK’s first 3D television channel next year.

The new channel will offer a broad selection of the best available 3D programming, which is expected to a selection of sporting events.

It will be broadcast across Sky’s existing HD service and be available via current Sky+HD set-top boxes. However, to watch in 3D, customers will also require a new ‘3D Ready’ TV, which are expected to be on sale in the UK next year.

To view television in 3D, users will also be required to wear polarising 3D glasses similar to the type used in popular 3D cinemas.

“3D is a genuinely ‘seeing is believing’ experience, making TV come to life as never before,” says Brian Sullivan, Managing Director of Sky’s Customer Group.

“Just like the launch of digital, Sky+ and HD, this is latest step in our commitment to innovating for customers.”

Nine unamed pubs in various cities across the UK will be showing this Sunday’s Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester United in 3D.

The groundbreaking move has been engineered by BSkyB and marks the first ever broadcast of a live 3D TV sports event to a public audience.

The British broadcaster is set to launch Europe’s first dedicated 3D TV channel in April of this year and has set Sunday’s showdown at Emirates Stadium as the event to showcase the revolutionary technology.

The names of the nine pubs selected remain a secret, but they are located in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Dublin, and have been kitted out with some of the first ‘3D Ready’ TV sets to reach the UK and Ireland. Unsuspecting customers will become the first audiences anywhere in the world to experience the English Premier League live in 3D.

Sony has a strategy for upping the quality of its content and providing an incentive for gamers to upgrade their home entertainment systems next year, and it involves the PS3 going 3D.

A presentation to investors yesterday underlined that the PlayStation 3 will be a fully 3D-capable game console by the end of 2010, and that a firmware update would share this upgrade across all existing PS3s. A few demos of PS3 3D gaming have been shown previously, but the news of an across-the-board firmware update is new. Of course, a gamer would still need a 3D-capable Bravia HDTV and glasses, the latter of which haven’t been announced yet.
